First of all, I would like to say thank you for looking at our website! We are really excited to bring
compassionate, thorough, personalized veterinary medicine to you and your pets.
If you are wondering who Dr. Missy is, I can give you that background! Although I have only been
back in the Valley for about a year, I was born in Harlingen and raised in Los Fresnos. I graduated from
Los Fresnos High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of
Texas at San Antonio. Next, I ventured to College Station and received my Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2000. Some of you may remember me when I practiced in
Brownsville and Port Isabel in 2000 and 2001 – at that time I was known as Dr. Denny.
Why did I leave, you ask? Well, you can say that I did it for love. My husband, Carlos Bruce, and
I were married in 2001 at Dolphin Cove. After that, we lived in San Antonio where I practiced at
Henderson Pass Animal Hospital for 6 years, where I was the medical director. I really enjoyed getting
to know my patients over the years and helping them to live longer, healthier lives by utilizing (at least)
yearly thorough examinations coupled with biochemical blood testing. I instituted junior and senior
wellness programs which helped me sometimes find abnormalities that we could correct before the pet
was showing signs of illness.
During our time in San Antonio, we added 2 human members to our family. Our first son, Noah,
was born in 2002, and our second son, Jude, came along in 2005. We have 3 Boston Terriers: Buster
Brown, Cracker, and Pollie.
So, now you are probably wondering what brought us back to the Valley? That one is
easy – our family and the constant support that they provide to us.
In addition to meeting me, you will also meet my technician John Cortez. We have been
working together for almost a year and we share the same compassion for our patients and their owners.
I know you will enjoy working with him as much as I do!
